Singing Time!

Like her mom, Shortie likes to sing. And like her mom, Shortie doesn't know the words to any songs. But she does recognize certain songs and she likes to sing along with them. I've been meaning to catch this on video for awhile, but frequently when I get the camera ready, she's no longer in the mood for singing. Today, I was able to capture some singing, but she's really quite distracted by the camera. So, for those of you who want to hear a little of Shortie singing, and a lot of me singing, this is the video for you. Sorry it's not the high quality video, but it

Baby's first fat lip

We're not exactly sure what happened, but sometime between preparing and eating dinner, Shortie got a fat, bruised lip. We've noticed lately that she sucks pretty vigorously on her bottom lip, and of course, she shoves every toy she has into her mouth, so maybe those things are to blame. Whatever the cause, she doesn't seem to be in any pain. Also, as you'll see in the pictures, Shortie has become aware of the flash on the camera (she's been aware of the camera for some time now). She can't help but stare at it. I hope she outgrows this, because she looks stunned in all of the pictures! These pictures are from this morning - it looks darker in real life than in the photos. And one without the flash...

The Fourth

I'm a fan of the big fireworks shows that are around, although I've never been to one in the Bay Area, so they seem like a midwest thing to me. However, I don't like waiting forever to get out of the parking lot at the big show, or dragging your lawn chairs and coolers and blankets for what seems like miles. Also, I don't think Shortie is quite up for the big boom that accompanies each of the spectacular displays. So, yay for fireworks that you can do in your front yard (legally!). Andy (with a little help from Thomas) was our pyrotechnician this year. He did a great job and only suffered a minor spark injury. And the baby didn't scream! All in all, it was a success. And finally, our little firecracker...

Packing for the 4th

Here, Shortie helps me pack for our trip to Sacramento for the 4th of July. Only in San Francisco would a baby wear tights during the summer. She's fascinated with these tights And with her chair (it looks like she's ready for takeoff!).

We're out!

Wow, I had no idea how popular our blog was until we started getting calls to see if we'd gotten out of the elevator. Worry not, we are out.

Help is on the way!

We're stuck in the elevator in our apartment building. Hopefully
someone rescues us, or we'll have to move forward with our plan to
home-school Shortie.

Look who likes her new chair.
