Shortie's on the move

I've been able to feel Shortie's movements for six or seven weeks now, and we've been enjoying watching my stomach jump, and getting the baby to kick when we poke my tummy. This morning we entered a new phase of baby movement. Those who know me well know that I'm a sleeper. I don't like to wake up in the morning, and even though the alarm goes off at 6:05, I just CAN'T pull myself out of bed until around 6:25 (on a good day). Even if I'm "awake," I have to lounge around for awhile before getting up. Conveniently, I have a little baby to keep me company (since my husband shoots out of bed when the alarm goes off!). This morning, I looked down at my stomach, and it was not the nice round shape I've come to know. It looked like a mountain, and the peak was not in the middle, but to the right of my belly button. When I reached down, I felt a butt or a head. It was crazy. By the time I managed to drag myself out of bed, Shortie was back in a more "normal" position.

The "big" ultrasound

We went on Friday for the "big" ultrasound; so named because it takes them nearly an hour to do the whole thing. Thomas got to see much more than I did because of the position of the screen, but it was very sweet to watch him smile at the screen. Apparently, our baby was quite a wiggle-worm, and gave the ultrasound tech a run for her money. Since the baby moved so much, the pictures below aren't the best ever, but they're still fun. During the profile shots, the baby was swallowing, so we saw it opening and closing its mouth, and we saw the tongue and pharynx moving - it was very cool to watch, but it doesn't translate well into a photograph. Of all the pictures below, I think that the foot is my favorite. Right before she captured the image, both feet were in the shot, and they're just adorable. Only ~20 more weeks and we'll get to meet shortie!

Sorry it's been so long

We're really going to try to be better about posting more often. October was a crazy month, both personally and professionally, and I'm glad it's November. On Friday we have another ultrasound, so there will be more baby pictures to share soon.

It's Halloween Time!

Happy Halloween! My belly is getting bigger. So is Thomas's. PS I do have more than one maternity outfit. I'll have to take more pictures!!

Drunkin' Punkin'

Here are a couple of pictures of our cute "baby pumpkin," which we carved at the annual Drunkin' Punkin' party that began when Thomas was in college. Somehow, the tradition has continued all these years, and to date no person has been injured. We can't say the same for the pumpkins. The Robertson 2007 pumpkin was inspired by my ever-growing belly and the cute (I'm sure!) baby inside.

We took this picture awhile ago, but are just now getting around to posting it. This is not too long after I made the switch to maternity clothes.

Waving "Hi" and showing you a foot

Our little baby at 12 weeks, 6 days

Here's a pretty good profile shot, with a hand and a foot!

Fun in Healdsburg

Every year, Bella Vinyards hosts a summer party, and this is the second year that the Taylors and the Robertsons have headed north to Healdsburg for a relaxing day of wine tasting and lounging in the sun. This year, I didn't get to do any wine tasting, but I did enjoy lounging. We started our day fairly early to beat the traffic, and we arrived at Ridge right when they opened at 11am. 11am? Yes, in wine country, it's okay to begin drinking at 11am. Then we headed to a couple of places I don't remember, and then Unti. Then, we went over to Bella for the summer party. When we left the party, we went to check into our hotel. Last year we didn't stay up in Healdsburg, and it was a long drive home at the end of the day for poor Andy. So we found the only hotel in town that didn't have a two-night minimum, and booked a couple of rooms. When we got there, there was a whole ordeal about how many rooms we had booked, and if we had paid. During the whole ordeal, the hotel owner asked Thomas if "we wanted a room with a door that locked." Thomas very politely replied that we did, indeed, want our door to lock. The actual facilities were nice enough - just remodeled - but they really need to work on their "management." Oh, and their curb appeal.

Fun with the ultrasound machine

And here are the two ultrasound picks of Moral Shortie.

Baby Pictures

Greetings friends & family! Today we got an ultrasound of our soon-to-be baby, so we thought we'd share those photos, along with a few earlier ones: Here is Lorrie's barely pregnant belly. Here we see the original pregnancy test.
